Pegiat Bethune House dalam tayangan sebuah stasiun televisi di Hong Kong<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/p>\n

Shelter<\/em> atau rumah singgah Bethune House berdiri tahun 1998 dan mulai tahun 2000 bekerja sama dengan ATKI membantu melindungi dan memperjuangkan hak-hak para BMI yang terkena kasus.<\/p>\n

Berbagai macam kasus menimpa BMI baik yang masih baru maupun yang sudah beberapa tahun di Hong Kong. Interminit sepihak, gaji tidak dibayar, gaji di bawah standar (underpay<\/em>), pemerkosaan, pelecehan seksual adalah kasus yang sering menimpa BMI Hong Kong.<\/p>\n

Sebut saja Ani (nama samaran), sudah 2 tahun di Hong Kong. Ia menuturkan selama 4 bulan gajinya tidak dibayar dan hanya mendapatkan libur 4 kali saja dalam 2 tahun. Tidak tahu dunia luar apalagi mengenal organisasi. Majikannya sering meminjam uang ke Ani namun selalu menunda-nunda untuk mengembalikan.<\/p>\n

Saat di Victoria Park, Ani menceritakan masalahnya ke sesama BMI dan disarankan untuk ke Bethune House. Saat ini Ani sedang menunggu hak-haknya dari majikan.<\/p>\n

Rita (samaran) kasusnya beda lagi. Dia diperkosa oleh majikan laki-laki yang setiap hari di rumah sedang majikan perempuan bekerja. 3 bulan tinggal di shelter dan sedang menunggu penyelesaian kasusnya.<\/p>\n

Bethune House memiliki cara tersendiri untuk menghibur para BMI dalam mengurangi trauma dan depresi yang mereka alami. Seperti jalan-jalan ke pantai, membuat kue bersama, berbagi dengan sesama BMI, memberi semangat, serta memberi pendidikan ke mereka bagaimana caranya menghadapi kasus dan harus berbuat apa jika terkena kasus. Selain itu diharapkan mereka bisa membantu BMI lain yang mengalami kasus serupa agar tahu harus mengadu ke siapa dan di mana.<\/p>\n

Bathune house terus mengadakan promosi melalui kegiatan-kegiatan yang diadakan oleh organisasi BMI yang sering berpusat di Victoria Park, Causeway Bay pada hari Minggu. Membagikan brosur yang berisi nomor telpon serta nama yang harus dihubungi saat BMI mengalami masalah.<\/p>\n

Diharapkan dengan cara ini semakin banyak BMI yang tahu akan hak-haknya serta bisa membantu BMI lain yang mengalami masalah saat bekerja di rumah majikan.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
